7) Blonde Flat White
If you like coffee with milk, but want a stronger flavor than a latte, a flat white is the right choice. It has less foam than cappuccino, too. It s made with whole milk, so it’s high in fat, but has only 250 calories. Plus, it’s vegan.
My Personal Favorite Low Calorie Coffee Drink
I love Starbucks Blonde Flat White is made with real coffee, and sweetened with agave. It has no added fats, and has only 230 calories. Plus, it s vegan. Although it might sound gross at first, if you like lighter lattes, it’s the perfect coffee for you. It is milder in flavor than a latte, but just as much fun. It also does not taste watered down.
I like Blond Flat White better than it’s latte cousin, largely because there’s less foam. If you want a creamy latte, but don’t want the guilt, this drink is perfect.
Also, Blond Flat White has less than one third of the calories, with still the same amount of flavor. It seems like the perfect coffee drink to me.
That said, if you like a more European style coffee, try one of their Mocha Frappuccinos. It’s a mocha with skim milk, whipped cream, and caramel drizzle. This drink has no dairy, no foam, and is under 250 calories. It’s delicious, tasty, and contains half the calories of a latte. It’s the perfect substitute for those of you looking for less of a creamy coffee.
These are my favorite 7 calorie coffee drinks, but honestly, most of the Starbucks drinks are less than 300 calories. Shop smart, and choose light, low fat, or nonfat choices, and you’ll get the flavor without the calories.
Hint: If you want iced mochas or iced coffees, use the lite syrup, rather than any syrups. The regular syrup has more than twice the calories.
I almost fell off my chair when I saw an infographic that said British doctors have made a disturbing discovery about the damage sugar does to our insides. (Taken from hhowstuffworks.com)
It’s true; regular consumption of sugary foods will damage your internal organs over time. Many doctors and nutritionists have warned that the excessive intake of sugar has a negative effect on our overall health. Dr. Aseem Malhotra, M.D., emphasizes: “Simply put, sugar is toxic.”
I never understood why we shouldn’t be eating sugar before, but after viewing the infographic, this makes perfect sense. Not only does it make sense, it scared me. Sugar is not just bad for our teeth. So avoiding coffee with syrup is probably a good idea, but so is cutting out soft drink.
With that said, here is my recipe for amazingly light caffeinated, and coffee-like drinks.
Green Coffee Smoothie
1 cup almond milk, or any other nondairy milk
1 teaspoon decaf instant coffee or instant espresso powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup fresh spinach leaves
Throw all of the ingredients into a blender. Use the strongest blender you have, so you can get the spinach and milk as smooth as possible. Blend until you get a beautiful green liqui (optional: add ice). Take a sip; this is delicious, energizing, and will wake you up in no time.
